Construction Inspector
Tyler, Texas | IH 20 Interstate Project
Au+ Engineering is looking for a Construction Inspector I to join our golden team.
This position is embedded full time on a multi-year interstate project on IH 20 in Tyler, Texas. You will be part of an integrated project team working alongside TxDOT and the contractor to ensure the project is constructed safely, correctly, and in accordance with the plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Job Description
The successful candidate’s most important qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management from an ABET accredited university preferred
- 0 to 5 plus years of relevant work experience
- EIT or PE preferred
- ACI certifications a plus
- TxDOT precertifications a plus
- Valid driver’s license required
- Experience working in the field or a strong desire to gain field experience
- Strong leadership and mentorship interest

Essential Functions
- Perform daily construction inspection on an active interstate project
- Review and interpret plans, TxDOT Standard Specifications, Special Provisions, and contract documents
- Observe and verify materials testing activities and review test results for compliance
- Verify construction operations are in conformance with approved plans and specifications
- Prepare detailed Daily Work Reports and maintain accurate documentation of installed quantities
- Assist with measurement and documentation for contractor pay estimates
- Support Au+ Project Managers and Engineers with field coordination and issue resolution
- Represent Au+ at project meetings as needed
- Apply technical expertise while working as part of an integrated project team
- Complete required safety training and uphold company safety standards
- Work in a safe and efficient manner at all times
Physical Requirements
- Sitting and or standing for extended periods of time
- Walking and climbing on uneven surfaces
- Lifting material samples up to 50 pounds
- Repeated motions including typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying
- Clear communication with other employees and clients
Environmental Factors
Most work is performed in the field on an active construction project.
Job site conditions may include:
- Exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather
- Noise exposure
- Driving for extended periods
- Exposure to construction and traffic work zones
- Extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use
- Extended use of electronic devices including computers, tablets, and phones
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position.
Days and hours vary according to the contractor’s schedule and operations and may include nighttime and weekend work.
Minimal travel outside the project area is expected.
This position will report directly to Au+ Engineering’s Executive Vice President and the Resident Engineer on the project.
